Our newly formed Endowment currently stands at approximately $240,000. Endowments are part of the financial foundation of Shining Mountain Waldorf School. Only the interest earned by the Endowment is used by Shining Mountain each year; the principal is a permanent gift of support. Your gift to the Endowment will strengthen our school and make a direct and lasting impact on our students and community.
You may make a contribution to the endowment via our secure online system by clicking on the link below and using your credit card or echeck:
The benefits of the Endowment to the donor are many: tax savings, a way to honor a loved one in perpetuity, at certain levels, support for a particular program that means a lot to you, and longevity: a gift from generation to generation.
The benefits of the Endowment to Shining Mountain are also great: financial stability, both now and into the future, effective and prudent stewardship of funds; an inspiration for other donors to give; and the reinforcement of our reputation as a mature and established school.
The interest earned on the general endowment fund will be distributed each year in support of the overall operating budget of the school or for special items requested by the Board of Trustees.
With a gift of $25,000 or more, you may establish a named endowment to honor someone special in your life. You may direct your gift to the general endowment fund, to allow the school to use the proceeds for whatever area is most in need each year, or you may direct it to support an area that is particularly dear to your heart, such as tuition assistance, teacher support, campus programs, or capital projects.
Shining Mountain Legacy Society:
Including Shining Mountain Waldorf School in your estate planning allows you to support us without impacting your cash flow, your current lifestyle, or financial planning. By including us in your estate plans, you will join the Shining Mountain Legacy Society and be honored in each year’s Annual Report and other publications.
By naming Shining Mountain Waldorf School as a beneficiary for all or any portion of your IRA, 401(k), or other qualified retirement plan, you can continue to own the funds and take regular withdrawals as needed during your life. You also maintain flexibility to change beneficiaries if your family needs change. Beneficiary designations must be made in writing through your retirement plan administrator.
Life Insurance Beneficiary
With the gift of life insurance, you don’t need a large estate to make a significant gift. You can do this with a new or existing policy. You keep all the rights in the policy during your life and maintain flexibility to change beneficiaries if your family needs change. If you have a cash value policy you no longer need you can transfer ownership to Shining Mountain and receive a current income tax deduction. Shining Mountain may elect to cash it in or hold it. Life insurance beneficiary designations must be made in writing with your life insurance company.
Other Estate Planning Gifts
