School Cancellation Page
When Shining Mountain has to close due to bad weather (excessive snow or ice, etc.), this web page is the first line of public communication for school closure. Notification will be given prior to 6:30 a.m., or as soon as the decision is made to close during the day. We will also notify parents, faculty and staff via text message, voice messaging (411 calls) and email.
We will not make announcements on radio or television, so if you are wondering if the school will be closed, please check your messages and/or the school website.
Lack of a closure announcement on this page means that classes are being held as usual.
Parental Responsibilities Regarding Attendance and Late Arrival
When the weather is bad, but school is open, parents living at a distance must make a family decision regarding attendance or late arrival for their children. For students residing outside Boulder city limits, a personal contact by the parent or a written note to school officials will excuse a student’s late arrival or absence during these conditions. In such cases, students will not be considered tardy or absent without excuse. Assignments will not be considered late if turned in at school the next morning that the student is in attendance.
